About Us

Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Great Commission Interdenominational Church (GCIC) was founded October 8, 1988, under the leadership of Bishop Sylvester C. Hooks. The church was established with Jesus Christ as the cornerstone, presenting God’s word in Spirit and in Truth. Starting off very small, with only eight members, church services were held at the home of Bishop Hooks. We quickly outgrew the home of Bishop Hooks and held services at the Masonic Hall Lodge.  God then blessed us to purchase and move into our current edifice, located at 3329 Coleman Street, on March 1, 1994. God’s abundant blessings continued to rain down on us, as the properties on the north side of the church were purchased, and now serve as our parking lot and the location of our multipurpose building.

Over the years different ministries were formed to provide the church members an opportunity to do God’s service and share His word.  These ministries have included:

On February 8, 2015, Bishop Sylvester C. Hooks announced his retirement and Rev. Michael McMillian was appointed as Pastor of Great Commission Interdenominational Church.  Rev. Gabriel Kline was appointed as interim pastor, July 24, 2018. On August 25, 2019, Rev. Gabriel Kline was installed as the pastor of Great Commission Interdenominational Church.

On February 10, 2018, our beloved Bishop Sylvester C. Hooks went home to be with the Lord. We are thankful for the tireless effort and love Bishop poured into the members of this great church.  He will never be forgotten!

As we continue to press toward that higher calling in Christ Jesus, we declare that God has truly been good to us and we will always strive to “grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.” II Peter 3:18

MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Great Commission Interdenominational Church remains properly positioned in the Divine will of God to fulfill the Great Commission. Modeling the Sacrificial life of Jesus Christ while reaching out to every race, creed, and religion.

19. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”

20. “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” St. Matthew 28: 19-20

We believe this shall be accomplished if anyone is in Christ because they are a new creation, old things are passed away, behold all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

We believe the Holy Spirit has given spiritual gifts to all believers for the purpose of building up the body of Christ and bringing honor and glory to God.

9.We believe that you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 1 Peter 2:9

Gabriel Kline

Pastor

Pastor Kline serves in his calling according to the Grace of God as the Senior Pastor of the Great Commission Interdenominational Church (and the church beyond walls). He recognizes in no way could he have merited the position, but by the calling of Christ Jesus “I am who I am”.

Early in life Jesus taught me that the Holy Spirit will continue to lead and guide me through this life. I have only earned one thing in this walk and that is to know without God I can do nothing that will be of eternal value but to know Jesus in the Power of his resurrection. Therefore, I hold fast to this one thing that I should not lean to my own understanding but in all my ways acknowledge God and seek his directions. While obeying the Spirit for 25 or more years in Pastoring, Preaching at Outreach Ministries, Radio Ministry ( More than Conquerors),Prison and Jail Ministry, Hospital Ministry, Feeding the Hungry(even midnight runs giving shelter to the homeless only as directed by the Holy Spirit), I still need the Grace of God and his unmerited favor to live a life pleasing to God . I count myself as the least among all my brethren only to serve in this season as lead by the Holy Spirit. I am just a servant while in this life with one desire to serve God in the beauty of Holiness. As I continue to serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I pray that all we do will always bring honor and glory to his Holy name.

I am a devoted husband to Evelyn, father, and proud grandfather who values family, fellowship with the saints and studying the Word of God.

First Lady Greeting

Greetings, from Evelyn Kline, First Lady of Great Commission Interdenominational Church. Great Commission Interdenominational Church welcomes you to answer the call of Christ as we function as the church beyond the walls. Jesus wants you to come unto him, all that labor and are heavy laden and he will give you rest. The word says if you want to be great in God’s Kingdom learn to be the servant of all. As I answered the call, I’m asking you to come and fill the seat that’s reserved especially for you. We are here to meet you where you are.

Lady Kline is a native Nevadan, who answered the call of Christ at a young age. Lady and Pastor Kline have 6 children. Lady Kline has a gift of loving to help others. This gift lead her to alter work, teaching, working with the homeless and prison ministries. Lady Kline loves working with the youth. She handled public relations for Findlay Middle School, church youth groups and community events for over 12 years.
